Beautiful People

Have you noticed how short the world is of beautiful people? There are plenty of nice people, helpful people and even a few caring people – but i mean beautiful people!

I was fortunate to meet up with the delightful Jenny and Jim in Fort Portal. This delightful couple from the States have just finished a six month contract in a Eastern Lowlands Gorilla orphanage in Democratic Republic of Congo. Jim is a wildlife vet whilst Jenny is a fund-raiser and animal photographer. Primate specialists (they have spent time with chimpanzees in Kibale in Uganda and the orang-utans in Bukit Lawang in Sumatra), it is clear they love all living things. They are totally dedicated to what they do, and are truly incredible, intelligent and dedicated human beings., with a host of quality anecdotes.

They travel with Princess, one of so many of their fostered pets who travels everywhere with them and very much a part of the family.

They are driving through Uganda as they prepare for a short return to the United States before taking up a placement in Bangladesh. Jim is happy to chauffeur me around in exchange for the occasional Sportsman cigarettes. and as Jenny is not “a morning person” we hike the area around Fort Portal at dawn. Awesome stuff.
