Independence Day (Part Two)

Following the Remembrance for Fallen Soldiers in Israel – approximately 22,000 of them, it’s time to party for Israel’s Independence Day. Streets are decked out with Star of David flags and fairy lights.

Festivities begin the night before, not least in Herzliyya where the main thoroughfare, Ben Gurion Boulevard. Police have cordoned it off, food stalls have been set up and stages set. Fireworks kick off at 9pm followed by dance, DJ and band performances. The streets are packed and pushchairs stack up.
