A Leap Into The Dark

I´ve visited about 55 countries across six continents and would self-define as a global traveller, as well as a global citizen. However i have never stepped foot on The Dark Continent.

I´ve wanted to...many times, but something else has usually come up at the last minute and it has sat on the back-burner. But i can wait no longer

Having completed my Masters in International Education, buggered around in Haiti, and not quite ready to join the main-stream work-force again, i´m off on a mega over-land road-trip.

I ´m looking at covering some 14,000km with about 12 country borders to cross. Fortunately with no time constraints whatsoever, i can choose my own travelling pace. Flexibility will be the name of the game.

I´ll twitter where i can and blog intermittently – for i am not sure how much Internet access i´ll have in more remote areas. The Beast (Nikon D200 and 3 lenses) will escort my travels, and i will try uploading where i can. This is unfortunate for you, Dear Reader, for i am a more accomplished photographer than i am a writer.

Highlights for my trip are many and varied, but will undoubtedly include: -

Deserts and safari in Namibia
Cage diving with Great Whites in South Africa
England winning the World Cup! Well i can dream can´t i?
Snorkelling with whale sharks in Mozambique
Hanging out in Zanzibar and off-shore islands
Close encounters with mountain gorilla (most likely in Rwanda)
Drinking coffee in Addis Ababa
Antiquity hunting in Ethiopia
Pyramids and other Ancient Egyptian stuff

For those unable to join me in person i hope you´ll follow along here for the cyber ride. You´ll have to hold on tight though, for i´m sure it will be rough and very challenging in parts.
