Himachal Pradesh

More regular visitors to this humble cyber-space will have already gathered, I have a BIG LOVE for India, and most especially the state of Himachal Pradesh where McLeod Ganj is situated. My patriotism for the area even extends to wearing my HP farmer´s cap everywhere i go (see profile picture – wearing it with pride in Camden, London).

I often enjoy the background noise of BBC World when i awake in the mornings; I need to make sure i know what´s going on in the World from this small and fairly isolated village in the foothills of the Himalaya.

How proud i was the other morning to notice this morning a holiday advertisement. A regular one advertises Bora-Bora, and Malaysia is also fairly regularly repeated. Just occasionally “Incredible India” is shown, but not for while.

Shots include the State Capital, Shimla, the old Summer Capital of the British Colonial days, as well as brief tit-bits from Manali, and the beautiful Lahaul and Spiti valleys with their unique ecosystems.

Check out its beauty on the HP Tourist Board by clicking here.
