This Hindu festival is being celebrated on 9th October this year. It marks one of the three and a half auspicious days of the year. Nine different food grains are offered to a wide variety of deities. The day is associated with valour and victory. Major celebrations are taking place at Kullu, 10 hours by bus to the east of Dharamsala. I´m heading off on tomorrow´s early morning bus to check it out, and attempt to avoid any fatal crushing that seems to be plaguing devotional Hindu festivals.
